PORTABLE NITROGEN ANALYZER

A battery-powered gas analyzer is supplied with every nitrogen generator to enable intermittent checking of the purity of the nitrogen gas produced by the generator, or at sample points on the sprinkler system.

HCGA-1:

This oxygen analyzer is a wall-mounted transmitter (without local indication) producing a 0 – 5V signal output signal corresponding to 100% to 75% nitrogen in the gas.  This would be wired to the BMS so that the gas quality can be monitored and alarms points set if required. A continuous very small sample gas flow is required from a Holtec HCV-M vent and an 120V power supply is needed. (See link below).

IMPORTANT COMMENTS ON CORROSION MONITORING EQUIPMENT, ETC:

Holtec does not recommend the use of permanently installed corrosion monitoring devices once 99.5% nitrogen has been applied to a system. They are simply not needed, expensive, and can often be a source of false alarms. Holtec started the use of locally generated nitrogen for use in gas pressurized sprinkler systems and is the only company in the business that can show the real evidence from sprinkler systems maintained with 99.0% nitrogen gas pressure for over seven years in one case and eight in another! In one case the pipe is black steel and in the other case it is galvanized. There is no corrosion monitoring at these sites!
