Visit by Representative Wagner

March 29, 2018

Holtec was happy to receive Representative Ann Wagner (2nd district, Missouri) at our offices last week. Representative Wagner was given a tour of our manufacturing facilities and a brief introduction to our current business climate. She was happy to discuss current and upcoming tax legislation and what is needed to help our business. Also discussed were tariff, trade agreement, and employment policies. We hope she will find those discussions useful as she returns to Washington to participate in national policy.

On May 29, 2016, Thorstein Holt traveled to Cuba on a trade mission with Governor Nixon and the Missouri Department of Economic Development.  The main purpose was to “pave the road” for future business when the trade embargo is lifted.  A meeting was set up with key Cuban officials and the trip was so successful that Thorstein will soon be returning to Cuba for further meetings.  Thorstein found the island very charming and the Cubans very warm and welcoming.  He looks forward to when the relations are normalized between the two countries.

This month Holtec has been attending meetings with EXIM bank officials and consultants and learning how to help non-US entities to purchase our nitrogen generators and get funding at reduced interest rates.  Last week we were honored to attend the Global Access Forum to hear remarks from Representative Lacy Clay (MO-1), EXIM Bank Regional Director Mark Klein, and EXIM Bank Chairman and President Fred P. Hochberg.  Many thanks to World Wide Technology, Inc, for hosting the event at their St. Louis Headquarters.

EXIM was reauthorized by the U.S. Congress and President Obama signed the reauthorization into law last December until September 30, 2019.  Contact us today if you are interested in purchasing a nitrogen generator with the support of the EXIM bank of the United States.

Holtec Gas Systems Will Exhibit at

Process Expo 2015!

Sept 2015

This fall, Chicago will be at the heart of the global food and beverage industry as it plays host to three of the Western Hemisphere's most prominent food and beverage technology events:  PROCESS EXPO, InterBev Process and the International Dairy Show.

Be sure to visit Holtec Gas Systems at McCormick Place in Chicago September 15-18, where we will have experts and management on hand to answer any commercial or technical questions you have.

Holtec's N2 Fresh™ membrane and Pressure-Swing Adsorption (PSA) nitrogen generators are used throughout the food and beverage industry for preservation in product packaging, ingredient storage, and fire prevention. Whatever your needs, we can quote the best nitrogen generator for you. The use of a Holtec nitrogen generator pays for itself in a short time and eliminates the need to buy and store high pressure bottled or liquid nitrogen.

Stop by booth 5737 and leave your business card for a chance to win a Holtec Gas Systems Golf shirt or a gift card to Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, and others)!

Food and beverage industry professionals will be attending this event to find a wide variety of manufacturing solutions for all segments of the food processing/packaging supply chain. Be it meat, dairy, prepared foods, bakery, beverage, frozen foods, condiments, pet food, cereals or any combination of these categories, you will find the latest innovations along with the industry experts at this massive event.   N2 Fresh™ nitrogen generators from Holtec will be among these innovations.

Benefits of N2 Fresh™ Systems:

  • Keeps Food and Beverages Fresh
  • Cost Savings
    • Reduced Cost vs. Liquid or Cylinders
    • Reduced Spoilage Saves Inventory Cost
  • Reduced Safety Concerns vs. Liquid or Cylinders
  • Reduced Nitrogen Waste vs. Liquid
  • Typical Payback Time is Less Than One Year!

Payoff Time:

The example above is based on a hypothetical customer who uses 100 SCFM (160 Nm3/h) of nitrogen at 70 psig (4.8 barg) and 99.5% purity (Maximum 0.5% O2 content).  Assuming the customer has no compressed air system already, they will need a 75-hp compressor.  With dryer and controls, this adds up to about 57.6 kW of electricity.  With electrical cost of $0.11/kWh and bulk N2 cost of $0.85/100CF, the savings will be about $4,927/week.   If the initial investment is about $150,000, this system will pay for itself in about 30 weeks, or just over half a year!

As you can see, the conversation is not about how to justify a nitrogen generator.  With savings like these, how can you justify not generating your own nitrogen?  Be sure to visit us at booth 5735 at Process Expo 2015 to find out all the details.

We at Holtec Gas Systems are having a great year in 2014, and export is a big part of it!  On September 12, the World Trade Center in St. Louis gave us the prestigious “Growing Global” award in recognition of outstanding companies and leaders in international business. The awards are given to companies that are trend setters in new ventures in competitive ex-U.S. markets, and focuses on expanding international trade.  Holtec has successfully conducted business in 35 different countries.  The award ceremony had 700 attendees and Thorstein Holt received the award on behalf of Holtec and its employees.  He thanked everybody at Holtec for their hard work and dedication for making this possible.  With regard to all Thorstein’s international travel (especially this year), he said in his acceptance speech: “What makes the long, tiring trips worth the experience is the people I meet and the time I spend with them.”  He also added: “If you have a talent, a dream, and work hard, you can make it big in America and the rest of the world.”  The keynote address was given by the ambassador the U.S. from Singapore.  This year’s “Global Ambassador” award was given to the Danforth Plant Science Center, and the “Global Person” award to the CEO of Rawlings Sporting Goods, so Holtec was in good company.  We look forward to closing out a great year for domestic and export business and another great year in 2015!

May 05, 2014

Holtec is proudly celebrating 15 years of operation in 2014.  Over those 15 years, Holtec has steadily expanded operations year by year, trying not to grow too quickly but to maintain an emphasis on quality and reduced customer operating costs. This year has started with many new projects and a healthy order backlog.  The domestic market is doing well this year and so is the international market, with an expected export of 40-50% of total revenue.  We have added several new employees and contractors to support new and ongoing projects.  Training of employees in PLC programming, drafting, compressor service and other important fields is ongoing so we can manage all aspects of fabrication, engineering, document requirements and service.  Research and development continues as well so we can remain the market leader with lowest air consumption and lowest operating cost.

We are also predicting substantial growth in the fire sprinkler market as well where our nitrogen generators are being used to remove oxygen in sprinkler lines for corrosion prevention.  Holtec was one of the first companies to supply nitrogen generators for this application in 2006.  We have recently been granted a patent for the most effective means to eliminate oxygen in every branch of complex fire sprinkler piping systems.  Companies without access to this patented technology are unable to offer systems that remove oxygen as effectively and using their systems will result in higher residual corrosion rates.  In addition to offering this efficient solution for removal of oxygen to prevent corrosion, Holtec’s systems are still the most favorably priced and the best value available on the market.

As more and more companies learn about our high quality, reliability, and world class performance, Holtec is working more closely with several strategic partners that are giving us repeat business.   Our main office and service center remains in Chesterfield, Missouri, USA.  However, we are continually adding new partners around the world who, with Holtec support and training, are able to provide local sales and service support.  If you are interested in becoming a Holtec sales and service representative, please drop us an e-mail or give us a call.

In addition to delivering highly engineered membrane and PSA type systems built to stringent specifications, we do also have a line of standard PSA systems and a newly expanded line of standard membrane systems.  Also, by keeping more key components in stock, we can deliver some of the smaller systems in two weeks or less.  Larger systems do typically take 6 – 10 weeks to build.  As always, if delivery time is critical, we may be able to find ways to deliver faster.

Holtec is always focusing on safety to make sure the right tools and measures are in place to execute fabrication efficiently without injuries.  This safety focus does also carry over into our nitrogen generator design making nitrogen generators safe for use and rugged enough for typical industrial environments.

We look forward to working with you to support your nitrogen generator needs.  Please contact us at the numbers below to discuss your requirements.

The Directors of the Missouri International Trade and Investment Office of Canada, Mexico and Brazil gave a presentation at the World Trade Center in St. Louis October 6, 2016.  Holtec was honored by a visit from the directors and  other representatives from Missouri Department of Economic Development after the WTC presentation as shown in the picture.
